Quirky, emotional, groovy, transformative, and dramatic: these are just a few words that capture the music and essence of Awe.

Formed in a beach bungalow in Huntington Beach, California, Awe was conceived over the course of two inspired weeks in July 2022 by the band’s founder, Slättery. Driven by a mission to infuse confessional writing with a message of love and hope, Slättery sought to form a narrative saga that combines hard-hitting rock songs with raw, heart-felt emotion. This led to a sound that can best be described as nostalgic and eclectic. Slättery draws inspiration from new wave, folk, glam rock, progressive rock, alternative rock, and others to achieve a fun, genre-defying sound for concert goers from anywhere.

With a musical journey that began when his father bought him a black, Japanese-made Fender Stratocaster at the age 12, Slättery recognized his passion for music early on. At this time, he discovered his love of rock and blues music and became a self-taught musician. At the age of 19, Slättery began his music career, playing the blues with friends in bars and clubs in Minneapolis, Minnesota, before relocating to Los Angeles, California.

In 2022, after a hiatus from the music industry, Slättery returned to his passion, using his life experiences as a guide for his writing. This approach has given him a distinctive artistic perspective, enabling him to create music that ranges from heart-wrenching ballads to in-your-face hard rock anthems and progressive rock soundscapes like “Electric Joy.”

In 2024, Awe released their debut album, “On Highway 1 With Nowhere To Go”. The album features Slättery as singer, composer, and performer of all instruments except for bass, which is performed by his brother, Lon Mower. This decision was born out of both convenience and a desire to ensure his vision was realized. The album is a testament to Awe’s commitment to innovation and emotional depth in order to cement their place in the modern music scene.

As of 2025, Slättery is working on a new album project that is scheduled to be released in 2026 or 2027. As the band takes its style of “grit & glam” to the live stage, Awe shows no signs of slowing down, offering a transformative sound and showmanship for fans and music lovers all over the world.
