Slattery, Kiss Me, Pretty Thing, 2024 Wake my sle Slattery, Kiss Me, Pretty Thing, 2024

Wake my sleepy soul
Come on, let's lose control
Queen Mary says she'll bring a friend or two
Screaming through the streets
High on your secret treats
You're my loud mouth baby!

Oh, you're gonna be a star
You've got a chic face made of gold
The way you shake your hips
Like a full eclipse
Makes me wanna lay it down with you now

Kiss me, pretty thing, kiss me, pretty thing
'Cause I need to taste your love tonight
Kiss me, pretty thing, kiss me, pretty thing
'Til your love burns up deep down inside
Kiss me, pretty thing, let's make the moment of our lives
For tomorrow we may die!

Your sister makes a plea
"Who says that we are free"?
Warbucks can't get the rent back down
You think I give a d@mn?
Just wanna be your man
Uh-oh, here comes your "Fat Romeo"

Oh, you think you'll be a star?
They love you almost as much as you
Do me with your shoulders back
Give me the sweetest smack
Get ready for me, I ain't holdin' back no more, uh-uh

Kiss me, pretty thing, kiss me, pretty thing
'Cause I need to taste your love tonight
Kiss me, pretty thing, kiss me, pretty thing
'Til your love burns up deep down inside
Kiss me, pretty thing, let's make the moment of our lives
For tomorrow we may die!

We may die, honey
So, just kiss me!

Kiss me, pretty thing
Kiss me, pretty thing
Kiss me, pretty thing, kiss me, baby
Kiss me, pretty thing
Kiss, kiss, thing
Kiss me, pretty thing, kiss me, baby
Kiss me, pretty thing
Kiss, kiss, thing
Kiss me like we're gonna die!
Kiss me, pretty thing
Kiss, kiss, thing
Kiss me like we're gonna die!

"I inherited this 1956 Gibson ES-125 from my fathe "I inherited this 1956 Gibson ES-125 from my father. This model pre-dates WWII and has been used by countless blues and jazz guitarists over the years. I'm really glad that dad took good care of it because I love playing this thing. Its value is priceless to me. I still use it on recordings! Survivors, in particular. During the 2nd verse. As a musician, you can collect a lot of gear. Sometimes, you have to get rid of it. Sometimes, you lose it. But this is the only guitar I own I didn't buy. It's sort of a part of me now. If it ain't broke, don't fix it."

Slattery on "Surf City Stomp", 2024 "When I lived Slattery on "Surf City Stomp", 2024

"When I lived in Huntington Beach, I would often stroll the boardwalk. Sometimes to go to the beach and other times to see bands downtown. At the time, I was living in a bungalow across the street from main beach on the Pacific Coast Highway. Looking back, it was a pretty chaotic time in my life, and it's amazing I mastered anything beyond the mundane at the time. Surf City, USA. Anyways. I was trying to figure everything out. But there were a few months in there when I mustered up the courage to take myself out to some of Main Street's finest establishments. I mingled. Enjoyed some cheap thrills. Watched a good shouting match. Downtown is like a second home. It's a magnet for locals, travelers, and carpetbaggers looking to score. You meet every type of person there. There's a million different stories going on at any given time. And I really felt that. I hadn't been this inspired by a place in a long while. And a few of those stories would become 'Surf City Stomp'. I saw the song through pictures in my mind, too, which I don't normally do. It's very visual. Some of the guitar parts were sitting around the studio for months. I'd play them, but I never knew what to do with any of it. A few came from my way back machine. But I started humming the chorus one day and had an ah-ha moment. It was written maybe a day or two after that. I remember I was listening to a lot of '70s and '80s new wave music then. So, I wanted to cram every little thought that David Byrne and Prince and Fred Schneider used to get a rise out of their fans. But I also felt that I should add a little of my personality in the song. It was just missing something. So, that's when I came up with the idea to use the element of surprise in different parts of the song. I just had the biggest smile on my face the whole time I wrote that. I liked how the driving rhythm weaved the story, and I wanted the song to seem like it was building and building and building. Like it was never going to let up. It's a personal favorite of mine."

Q: What's the first song you learned to play on gu Q: What's the first song you learned to play on guitar?

A: "The first song that I learned on guitar was 'The House of the Rising Sun'. Dad said everyone learns that song. I remember thinking, 'how can anyone play this? It's so many chords!' My dad knew what he was doing choosing that song. So, I tinkered around with that for several months. Playing and singing. Maybe tried to create some chords of my own, too. This is when I was about 12. One day, my dad asked me if I wanted to start guitar lessons. I shrugged and said 'sure'. I wasn't sure what this music thing meant to me at this point. So, he set me up at a small guitar shop in Savage, Minnesota called LaVonne Music, which is where I met a man named Michael. Michael is really the only person who ever formerly taught me anything on guitar. He had very long, white hair and wore fancy blouses and accoutrements. That was another first for me. I really liked Michael a lot, mostly because he was so soft spoken and very nice to me. Great man. I remember our first lesson together: he said "hi, Robert", sat down, plugged in his Fender Strat and started playing Jimi Hendrix, Stevie Ray Vaughan, and Eric Clapton for me. It was like the most exciting thing ever to me. I'd even say I was intimidated. How could someone so calm play like that, you know? My feelings about music changed after that. Come to think of it, this may have been the first time I watched someone play a guitar solo live. Needless to say, after that lesson, I wasn't playing 'The House of the Rising Sun' anymore."

"It's Never Too Late To Say Goodbye" Lyrics

You wear a cold heart
A load that makes you strong
'Til one day you grow, then they're gone
A guilty act, a guilty mind
An idle love is left behind
There is no way to say goodbye

It's never too late to say that you love them
It's never too late to try
It's never too late to live on without them
And let go of the reasons why
But if they're already gone
And you're feeling all wrong
Since you couldn't be there at the end
It's never too late to say goodbye

You look in his eyes
You say you'll be back soon
Deep down you know that can't be true
It's hard to break old habits
When you feel you're out of tune
Still, you made peace on this night

It's never too late to say that you love them
It's never too late to try
It's never too late to live on without them
And let go of the reasons why
But if they're already gone
And you're feeling all wrong
Since you couldn't be there at the end
It's never too late to say goodbye

It's never too late to start all over again
They'll probably start all over with you
It may wound you and make you feel alone
Just like you did all those years ago
Well, well, goodbye

It's never too late to say that you love them
It's never too late to try
It's never too late to live on without them
And let go of the reasons why
But if they're already gone
And you're feeling all wrong
Since you couldn't be there at the end
It's never too late to say goodbye

You know it's never too late to say goodbye
It's never too late to say goodbye
I swear it's never too late, it's never too late, baby
It's never too late to say goodbye
It's never too late to say goodbye
It's never too late to say goodbye
It's never too late to say goodbye

"I needed a song that setup the premise of the alb "I needed a song that setup the premise of the album's story line. So, I began to write a song told from the perspective of the 'Invisible Man', a loner who lives near the beach. He spots this beautiful woman dancing alone in a shore break in the ocean. It's high tide. This imagery triggers intense feelings of connection and longing within him. She is a teacher. Dedicated to her work just to feel alive. An academic country woman with a .357 mind. With a face as light as a swan's feather. And hair that burns like a wistful ember. She fell out of place and time with everyone she knew back east. And even further east from that. But I kept thinking to myself: why would she stray so far from home? So, I had to come up with some idea about what could shake her out of her comfort zone. And that's when the apocalyptic story line came to me. This sort of terrible event that wiped out the markets, crops - that sort of thing. And I just loved how this contrasted with both the idyllic coastal beach setting and all the quirky characters on the album. Anyways. These events lead her to the shores of southern California. Not to pursue beauty or love. But to survive. Following the crowd. Like the 'Invisible Man', she is a loner. She is his lonely dancer."

ON HIGHWAY 1 WITH NOWHERE TO GO finds Awe transporting listeners to the sun-soaked yet dystopian shores of Southern California's Pacific Coast Highway. This post-apocalyptic concept album weaves a poignant narrative of two lovers whose intense and dysfunctional relationship mirrors the broader themes of love, hope, loneliness, and self-destruction in a world on the edge. With a rich tapestry of alternative rock, glam rock, R&B, folk, and progressive rock, Awe crafts an emotionally charged and sonically diverse journey that lingers long after the final note.

Tell me, baby, tell me now
Tell me what you like
Make me feel like we're going somewhere from here
Take me, baby, take me home
Take me, let's get a little closer
Dress me up, eat me up
I'll do it all for you

I give you love just to get no love
But that's all right, I want to stay
I get the clue, but I can't lose you (I don't want to lose you, baby)
You have a magic touch that wins me over
I guess that's why you're the one

 Ooo, ooo
 Ooo, ooo
 Ooo, ooo
 Ooo

Share your heart, baby, share your heart
Don't make me walk a one way street
Can I get to you at all? (Where am I? Which way do I go?)
Like a fool, I cried poor me with you at the table
How naive, I guess I showed my cards too fast

I climbed a mountain, bought fancy cars
I built my body to look like the stars
To be good enough, what do I have to do? (Come on, tell me, tell me, tell me)
But you will always be the love of my life
I know that's why you're the one

 Ooo, ooo
 Ooo, ooo
 Ooo, ooo
 Ooo

I feel my world has been pulled out from my feet
I had to change who I was, I need a love that is complete
All I want to know is that you'll never give your soul to another guy
Say what you like, but I'll still be your best one, your best one tonight

When things go wrong, I feel the blame
Babe, let me help you make a smile
Don't make me second guess myself (It's okay, I still love you, baby)
I ache in my bones when you shout out my name
I guess that's why you're the one

 Ooo, ooo
 Ooo, ooo
 Ooo, ooo
 Ooo

I climbed a mountain, bought fancy cars
I built my body to look like the stars
To be good enough, what do I have to do? (Come on, don't play games no more, baby)
But you will always be the love of my life
I know that's why you're the one

You're the one
Mmm, you're the one
La, da, da, da, da
